Farewell Dinner, Goodbye Rome.

Yesterday night was our Farewell Dinner at Antica Biblioteca, it was very good! It is sad that I will be leaving Rome after being here since January! I had tons of fun and loved viewing the city, as well as other places within Italy, and even England! I have two days left to say goodbye to Rome then back home on a super long flight that I will hopefully sleep all the way through! Time change will be annoying and difficult, but it will be great to be back home to see my friends and family. Above is what I wore to the dinner, my roommate even said I looked like a total Italian, best compliment ever! So here is to my second to last day to explore the city once again! Once I get back home expect tons of pictures, recaps, and advice for traveling in Rome and Study Abroad for you college students out there! Have a great day!

Spring Essentials

Spring Essentials

So spring really "sprang" up on me. Rome went from semi cold and rainy to beautiful, sunny, buds on trees, birds chirping spring. Since spring is here, at least in Europe, I decided to make a spring essentials "list" for you all! Here is what I think you will want to have:
    • an umbrella- perfect for the unexpected rainfall
    • sneakers- some light sneakers in a fun color or pattern
    • trench coat- a light weight and short trench for breezy days
    • light weight blouse- light weight fabrics are great when the weather starts to get hot; for spring, pair your blouses with a simple cardigan
    • long necklaces- good in any season, these are just something quick and easy to throw on to glam up your outfit
    • denim shorts- mid thigh cuffed denim shorts are appropriate and cute for the spring, especially with a pair of sneakers (Keds!)
There you have it, my simple little list of spring essentials. I totally love the idea of straw fedoras and rain boots, but first, I think it takes more effort to wear a fedora, and second I hate being inside for classes wearing rubber boots; hot and uncomfortable.

Happy spring!

Roma & Firenze

If you have been following me, all two of you, you would know I spent this semester abroad in Rome, Italy. I have had an amazing time and have gotten to write a little more frequently on my blog. This semester has been so relaxing, freeing, and life changing. I have the typical four classes every college student has, but I get to have Rome as my classroom. Instead of living in a dorm, I live in an apartment, close to the Vatican, and I get to experience everyday Roman life. My view points on every day things, like washing the dishes, have changed remarkably. This Rome experience, though it is not over yet, has ultimately changed me into a more independent, free, and even more humble, person. I would recommend anyone and everyone to study abroad if it is possible for you. Not only do you get required courses for your majors/minors out of the way, you get to experience an entirely different culture, only if you open up and accept it. Like all things in life, you can choose to accept them, or ignore them. My experience abroad has helped me understand that acceptance is a better option. Keeping your mind open and trying new things will help you grow academically, as well as personally. I will be writing a huge series of posts regarding traveling in Rome, what to pack etc., and other posts on study abroad for college students out there!

Here are some pictures from Rome, as well as Florence:

I made a special trip to see John Keats, and Percy Shelley's graves in Testaccio.

Florence:

I had a great time! When I get back home, I will write all about my travels and tips for you guys when you decide to study abroad, or visit Europe! Ciao!

Pants Galore

As you have heard from recent posts, no pants I own please me, or fit me well for that matter. Well this statement is no longer true! Thanks to, you guessed it, Zara, I have found four pair of pants that are simply awesome!

Pair 1:

I was extremely weary about these pants, but I am actually glad I got them. They are a very light cream color, but super flattering, and will work well in the spring and summer when it is really hot outside.

Pair 2:

These pants look different in person, and are longer on me, but they are a great basic pair of blue jeans. They are a great medium wash, and super flattering. Love them!

Pair 3:

I really wanted a grey pair of skinny jeans, and these jeans are definitely skinny and flattering. They are actually a size bigger than the other three, an USA 8 versus an USA 6. I am actually getting weary about buying this pair, I know it looks good but I am nervous about wearing a different color other than black or blue. However, thanks to Pinterest, I am sure I can pull these off somehow.

Pair 4:

So online these say Navy, but in person, they are super dark that I would say they are black. I also love these, they were the first, of 16 pairs, that I tried on!

So it was an exciting Saturday, trying on 16 pairs of pants with the help of two friends who were the best criticizers for clothing ever! I am so thankful that I had them, they really analyzed each piece and ran to get more sizes when needed. I really recommend shopping with someone who will be "harsh", you really get good and well fitting  clothing that makes you feel a lot happy about yourself, and look really good!
