Brown Sugar Scrub

I recently made this DIY Brown Sugar scrub seen here.
However, adding 3 TSP of Olive Oil for every 1/2 Cup of brown sugar makes it too oily. So I modified the recipe a little bit. In my mason jar, I have 5 cups of brown sugar7 TSP of olive oil and 1 TSP of water. This way there is enough olive oil soaking into the brown sugar without having a gross excess for when you open the container in the shower.

This works really well to make your skin super soft and smell delicious. I wouldn't recommend using this for your face since it leaves behind olive oil that will build up on your face and not necessarily soak in if your have oily skin.

I am going to try another face exfoliate seen on my pinterest beauty board.

Have a great day and try this DIY, takes about 5 minutes or less!

Knot Rings

I just got these delicate rings in a set of 3 at Macy's. They are really cute and you can wear just one at a time or stack them together. I love simple jewelry, and these definitely make the cut.

Casual Cutie

Summer Nail Color

My favorite summer color: Elephantastic Pink by OPI.

Tips for beautiful nails:

1. Make sure you start with clean, dry nails. Take off old nail polish and buff out your nails.
2. Start with a base coat. A base coat will help your nail polish go on smooth and not stain your nails.
3. Put on the color. After your base coat dries, start with a dot of color in the center a little away from the nail bed and brush it towards the nails bed then towards the end of the nail. Next, put the brush back at the starting point, and brush the color on the right side; repeat on the left side. Do another coat if neccessary (once this coat is dry!).
4. Add a top coat. A top coat will make your color last longer and add a glossy sheen. If you have a matte nail color on, a top coat will make it shiny.

Beauty Essentials: Nail Polish

Beauty Essentials: Nail Polish

Beauty Essentials: Nail Polish by labelmechic featuring essie nail polish

Nail polish is an accessory, it can really make your outfit. I suggest that you get a base coat and a top coat; if you lay down the base coat before your polish it will go on smoother and won't stain your nails. Here are other colors you should have: white, light pink, true red, nude, and mauve. All these colors look great no matter how long your nails are or your skin tone. Once you have the basics, you can expand your nail polish collection!

Closet Essentials: Additional by labelmechic featuring dune shoes

Having the basics is always great for your wardrobe, but here are some extras you might want to consider. First a pair of stockings in a nude tone and black tone. Next a simple black bikini or one piece, either one you feel comfortable in. You also need a pair of sneakers, a pair of canvas sneakers, and a pair of loafers. Lastly, you can get a fedora and a beanie. You don't need all of these, but you can chose what you want or need to get.

Closet Essentials: Accessories

Closet Essentials: Accessories

Closet Essentials: Accessories by labelmechic featuring pearl earrings

Accessories can make, or break, an outfit. Make sure you start on the right path. First get simple diamond and pearl studs, they don't have to be real! Next get a watch, any type you want- leather, metal, canvas, etc. Your last jewelry item is a simple necklace with a cute charm.  Again this can be any type you want, I would suggest a mid-length chain and a sterling silver chain and charm. Your next items would be a black belt, a black scarf and some sunglasses. Lastly, you need an everyday handbag and an evening clutch.

Closet Essentials: Outerwear

The right outerwear will depend on the climate of where you live. I recommend to have a trench coat for spring and fall, a wool pea coat for winter, and a light spring jacket. The blazer is good for work and dressing up.

Remember you don't need a heavy wool coat if you live somewhere where it isn't chilly.

Closet Essentials: Skirts & Dresses by labelmechic featuring a black pleated skirt

Every woman needs a LBD (little black dress), so make sure its one of your first buys. Other basics you need are a basic everyday dress, an a-line skirt and a black pencil skirt.

Closet Essentias: Pants & Shorts

Closet Essentias: Pants & Shorts

To start off your pants & shorts wardrobe, make sure you have these items: a light wash pair of jeans, dark wash jeans, black cigarette pants (dress pants/work pants), khaki pants, denim shorts & khaki shorts. Of course you can buy any color pants or shorts you want but starting with these basics can kick start your wardrobe.

Jeans side note: Start with a straight leg jean or a boot cut since these are the most universally flattering; if you want, get a pair of dark wash skinny jeans to dress up your night out.

Closet Essentials: Tops

We love buying tops, but make sure you have these in your arsenal. An oxford in any pastel color, a button up black cardigan, an open black cardigan, a white crew neck, a white v neck, a horizontal striped sweater, 3 blouses that can double as everyday, work or dressed up, and lastly white and black cami's for underneath. Once you have these tops, start searching for anything else to wear on the weekend, to work or on a night out.

Closet Essentials: Shoes

Closet Essentials: Shoes

Starting out with shoe basics can really get you far. Of course you need a good pair of sneakers for working out or any activity, but you can't wear your sneakers to work or to a dressy occasion. I recommend to start with a pair of black pumps and nude pumps. Next, I would recommend a comfortable pair of ballet flats, preferably in black to start. A pair of sandals in a neutral shade is great for the spring and summer. Lastly, a pair of black city boots and brown city boots are great for the winter and fall.
